Coaching FAQs

What Does A Life Coach Actually Do?
Life coaching helps you get clear and move forward when you feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure what you want next. Coaching creates space for you to explore your stress and overwhelm, thoughts, patterns, goals, confidence, and your beliefs about yourself, so you can create meaningful change. Many women come to coaching feeling ‘fine on the outside’ but emotionally worn out underneath. Coaching helps you reconnect with yourself, build confidence, quiet the overthinking, and move forward in a way that feels aligned rather than forced.
Is Life Coaching Worth The Cost?
Yes! You are worth the investment in your future wellbeing. Coaching can be incredibly valuable when you’re ready for change but feel stuck in old patterns, overthinking, self-doubt, or emotional overwhelm. People often invest in coaching because they want: More confidence Clearer boundaries Less stress and mental overload Better relationships More fulfilment A stronger sense of self Support navigating life changes We regularly spend money on temporary things like shoes. Life coaching can be real change for your future! The real value of coaching is in your transformation, awareness, accountability, and lasting mindset shifts.

What Is The Difference Between Coaching & Therapy?
Therapy often focuses on healing and processing the past, while coaching focuses more on the present and future. Coaching helps you understand where you are now, what’s keeping you stuck, and how to move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and self-awareness. Many people find coaching helpful when they feel emotionally stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected but are looking for support to create change in their life moving forward.
Can Life Coaching Help With Confidence?
Yes. Confidence is one of the most common reasons why people seek coaching. Low confidence isn’t usually about your capability, it’s about self-doubt, overthinking, people pleasing, fear of judgment, comparing or losing connection with yourself over time. Coaching helps you rebuild trust in yourself, challenge limiting beliefs, and stop second-guessing every decision.
Do You Work With Women In Midlife?
Yes. Many of my clients are women in their 40s and 50s who feel disconnected from themselves, emotionally exhausted, overwhelmed by responsibilities, or unsure what they want in the next chapter of their life. Midlife often brings identity shifts, changing priorities, and a growing awareness that constantly putting yourself last is no longer sustainable. Coaching creates space to reconnect with yourself and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
How Do I know If I Need A Life Coach?
You don’t need to be falling apart to benefit from coaching. Many people seek coaching because they: Feel stuck or unfulfilled Overthink constantly Struggle with confidence Feel emotionally overwhelmed Want better boundaries Feel lost in midlife Have spent years putting themselves last Know something needs to change but aren ’t sure where to start Often, clients simply reach a point where coping no longer feels like living If you are nodding your head as you read, then maybe life coaching is for you!
Tips For Choosing A Life Coach!
Coaching is a specific skillset. Find someone who is a trained and certified coach. The gold standard is an International Coaching Federation (ICF) certified coach. Do some research - do they have reviews? Have an initial 'discovery call'. Consider if you 'connect' with the coach? Do you trust the coach? Were they easy to talk to? Did they listen to you? Think of questions before the call - what do you want from coaching? What are you looking for in a coach? Trust your intuition - are you a good 'fit'? Did you feel understood & heard in the call? Be honest with the coach.
What Happens In A Coaching Session?
Coaching sessions are supportive, honest, and focused on you. Sessions may include: Exploring what’s keeping you stuck Identifying mindset patterns Building self-awareness Strengthening confidence Creating practical changes Helping you figure out what you truly want This is not about judgment or pretending to 'have it all together'. It’s about creating meaningful, sustainable change in a grounded and supportive space. Generally we meet for one hour on zoom, every 2 weeks. to get the most out of the session, you bring a specific focus for the session and we work on that, followed by next steps for inbetween sessions.
How Many Coaching Sessions Will I Need?
That depends on you! It depends on your aims, challenges, and the level of support you’re looking for. Some clients come for support around a specific issue, while others choose longer-term coaching to create deeper personal growth and lasting change. I work for a minimum of 3 months with clients, as real change won't happen in less than that. Coaching is not about quick fixes. Real change comes through awareness, honesty, consistency, and practice. The average time for change is 66 days (Lally et al, 2009). Consistency is key for neuroplasticity (rewiring your brain). The more you put into coaching, the more you will get out of it.
Can Coaching Help With Overthinking & Anxiety?
Coaching can help you understand patterns of overthinking, self-pressure, comparing, perfectionism, and emotional overwhelm. Many people spend years stuck in cycles of worrying, people pleasing, what ifs, mentally replaying conversations, or constantly doubting themselves. Coaching helps you slow the noise, understand what’s driving those patterns, and create healthier ways of thinking and responding.
Coaching can help you understand your patterns of needing to make others happy, even to the detriment of yourself. Often tied into people pleasing is perfectionism, approval seeking, comparing yourself to others, overthinking, guilt and putting yourself last. Coaching can help you break these cycles so you can value yourself and start saying no instead of automictically saying yes! You can learn new ways of 'being' in the world that value you and others.
